Tom Andriola

Vice President & Chief Information Officer, University of California System

 

Tom Andriola joined the University of California as its Vice President and System Chief Information Officer (CIO) in 2013. He provides leadership across the $53B University working closely with campus and healthcare leaders to create opportunities for technology to enhance the UC missions of teaching, research, patient care, and public service.  In his function, he oversees more than 8000 IT professionals across a range of activities. His diverse portfolio ranges across operational synergies, strategic imperatives, cyber-risk, leadership development, innovation & research, and business incubation. He brings over 25 years of experience as a global business and technology executive. Those years have been spent in a variety of roles ranging from a business transformation leader to a global CIO with staff around the world to being employee #1 of a new startup business.  He has a wealth of management and leadership experience having lived abroad and run organizations on four continents. Throughout his career he has been a champion of change inside organizations as well as a leader for healthcare innovation in the marketplace, having brought first-of-kind solutions to market leading to the creation of new businesses. He is active in Healthcare associations, HIMSS and CHIME, and serves on several boards, including the Chair for CENIC, OCHIN (the nation’s largest technology provider for safety-net hospitals), and the Risk Services Software Company.  He is a sought-after speaker on a variety of technology topics in Healthcare, Higher Education and the changing role of the CIO.
